I ran into this the hard way, and started studying it. Got my ammeter out and saw something like 6 mA of leakage to ground. Then I came here (THE resource) and saw posts about our polarity indicators and some update with the resistor (upgrade to 168k ohm?). I guess the polarity indicators work by passing current to ground and lighting an LED, but it's enough to trip a GFCI. I read somewhere here that if they're green, they'll do this, but if they were ever "fixed" they would glow yellow instead.

This should be pretty close and accurate; however, there are potential closures that aren't scheduled, which occur unexpectedly, so keep that in mind. For the most part this map should keep you out of a mess.
