Default Eclipse Rally Caravan From Jacksonville, FL to Kerrville

I posted this in the Eclipse Rally but probably best in a new thread.

We would be coming from Jacksonville, FL to Kerrville. Looks like pretty much straight out I-10. Google Maps says it's 1120 miles, so I'm thinking 3 or 4 travel days. If we leave Saturday March 30 and arrive in Kerrville the afternoon Wednesday April 3 that gives us 5 days, so a couple of days for sightseeing. Looking for suggestions along the way. We have never been to New Orleans, so maybe that would be one. Also if anyone would want to caravan with us that would be great. If we stay in one place more than one night our preference would be State Parks and they typically book a year out, so it's not too soon to plan. Also keep in mind March 31, 2024 is Easter Sunday.

If you plan on going to NOLA then I would suggest Bayou Segnette State Park. I have been there twice. Nice location to about everything. Close to downtown, just a short drive on Bus. 90 to the heart of downtown. Don't miss the WWII Museum, but be prepared to take all day or even two days to see it all. A great place. Of course the French Qtr. just so you can say you have been there. Lots of tourist traps there. Just driving the area and checking out the architecture that it is known for. There are several plantations that are worth your time and money. Historically the battleground where Andrew Jackson fought off the British in the War of 1812 on Jan. 1815. Lots of fun stuff to do there. There is a fish market close to the entrance of the state park that is worth the effort to get some fresh caught, quality shrimp or other seafoods.

When the factory had the Rally in the Valley, we had the Texas bunch caravan with 7 coaches. That trip broke me of caravanning.

Any caravan over 4 coachs is too many coachs.
You can't park and you can't all get into a fuel stop,rv park etc.

Unless you are going to Alaska I would think more than one traveling partner is too much. Two can do about anything one can do, but more than that it starts to become a problem, I would think. It still takes a lot of effort even for just one traveling partner. Just ask Nancy Brookshire my cruise director for the last two months. She spent more time on the phones getting things set up for the night or nights spent than getting to see the countryside.

We have pretty much finalized our plans. Leaving Friday March 29 and driving to Mobile, Alabama (400 miles, a long day for us) and staying 2 nights at Meaher State Park, then to New Orleans on Sunday 3/31 for two nights at Bayou Segnette State Park. Tuesday will stay somewhere around Houston (thinking of Baytown, Texas) and then arrive at Old River on Wednesday 4/3.
