Default Air Conditioner

It was working fine. Now I can turn unit on and hear compressor but no fan. Fortunately, I have 2 more- but its hot here in Ok. They all are original Dometics. Is there any quick fix till I make some money to buy new?

Could be just the fan motor is binding. If you take off the top cover you should be able to hit the shafts with a bit of oil or wd40 and then oil. Spin by hand with the power OFF

Unfortunately, a sudden failure is nore likley a control board or the fan speed switch. I don't know if you have fancy thermostats or just the ceiling control center.

I just have the old style ceiling mounts. Don't need any more gadgets.

Just wait till it is cooler in the evening and check for binds. Otherwise there should be plenty of experts at the rally

Ernie,

We replaced a Dometic a few years ago. The fan blade had disintergrated. The shaft still turned but obviously no air moving.

It may be that fan, Mike. When you turn it on, nothing- not even fan runs. Turn it to cold- I can hear and feel compressor running. I'd love to have that fan. I gotta figure out Dorns' address in Hogansville, Ga. Get back to you. Thanks a whole bunch

Hey Ernie, did you say you are in OK? I am a HVAC guy, but the other kind so I don’t know much about RV ac. However, I would do as Gardener says, and take the top off,, easy. You will quickly know if the shaft is bound by a dobber or other. If Not, go down and turn the fan “only” on, and see if you can spin it and start it, if so could be a capacitor, and a cheap fix.

We are in Thackerville at the Windstar RV resort with the Lone Star Birds. I did spin the fan but it was a little sluggish. I'll spray some Kano oil on it when I get home on Sunday. Come on down, beautiful park
