Default A/T switch

On the 83 FC dash there is a switch in the upper right labeled A/T. I thought Anti-Terrorist, but probably not. Does anyone know what it is?

There is another mystery switch in the rear of the upper cabnet over the couch on the drivers side marked on/off? I didn't notice anything when I turned it on, no sounds anyway.

Gardner,

That is the Anti Theft switch. It isn't a complete master switch, but it cuts off computers on computer engine and/or transmission. I suspect it does something else for the same effect on your FC.

Can't help on the other switch.

Randy,
That might explain why the tank level and other control panel things were not working. I didn't leave the switch on in case it was the self destruct or possibly a one shot smoke generator.

Paul,
So Anti-Terrorist wasn't that far off after all!

I will have more time this weekend to dig into things. When I bought it the overall package was worth the price so a few things not working were acceptable. I didn't check the less important things too carefully since I can fix most of them myself. My wife liked it so the rest is academic.

Thanks

Hey Bill,

This weekend will be mostly finding things and spring cleaning. My main concern os the plumbing. It is still winterized, so I don't know if I have a bunch of leaks or not.

When you get around to it,

It's a good idea to verify that the propane detector actually still DETECTS flammable gasses. Even if the little power light is on, the detector inside the unit might not function anymore. You can test it fairly easily by directing butane from a disposable lighter towards the detector.

That AT switch through me for a loop a few weeks ago. Bus wouldnt start from the dash, but would from the rear engine compartment switch. I checked the transfer sw but that wasnt it so started checking the dash. Traced wires to the AT switch that I must have hit while working in the dash area. Wasted half a day on that!

What surprised me was that there was not a diagram for the ignition circuits in the blue book!

Any one have those wiring diagrams??

Thanks, Joe

Joe,
That one got me today. I was lucky that I tried the AT switch about ten minutes into it, otherwise I would still be there uttering most foul language.
