No problem Eric, I agree whatever works is good.

In my case, I got those black plastic wing nuts from Lowes. Actually, Jim Walters sent me some from there. And you are right, they are too large so I found a grinder and ground down the plastic on both sides until they fit between the fridge and freezer. I put two nuts on the rod by the fridge to lock the rod, then two nuts on the rod at the appropriate distance out by the door, then the wing nut (it just has a hole in it) and then used a nylon lock nut on the end to give some tension on the knob. I used nylon washers on both sides of the Wingnut so it would turn, even with tension, and the other nuts or the rod would not become loose. With those two knobs, that's all you need as when turned perpendicular to the space between the doors, nothing can come open. We have found when we are parked, we leave them so the doors will open all the time. Any day we are traveling, we leave them turned to secure the doors from the beginning of the day, and open and close them immediately if we need something out or are putting something back. That helps us not to forget to close them before taking off. A full freezer drawer coming out on a turn would not be a good thing.

Looks like my Dometic gave up last week. I will be joining those who've installed Samsung refrigerators.

Sears is desperate to sell anything that they can.

I bought mine for around $700 at the Sears outlet.

Might be worth checking it out.

After living with it for a couple of years, we are completely happy.
You won’t regret it.

Max.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sears has a few Samsung RF18 on their website but they are listed as floor models or with cosmetic damage. I want to buy a new, out of the box model.

Replaced our Norcold with a Sears 110 volt model that is the same size as the Norcold for $325.00.
Wife loves it and keeps things cold after an all day drive with no drop in temp.

That looks really nice . We plan to go with a Nova Cool next time . For the last four years we ran a 110v apartment size fridge. It worked great for what we were doing . We didn't do any off grid camping . Our next coach will be set up for deep woods dry camping . The Nova Cool will be great for that since it will only pull 5 amps of 12v when the compressor is running and it is heavily insulated .

Chuck,
That looks good! Are you open to sharing the cost and model info?

Thank you,

Doug

I wanted to keep changes to the cabinetry to a minimum and had to disassemble the original unit to get it out the door. So, I found the Nova Kool RFU7300 to be approximately half the size of the cabinetry opening and installed two of them side by side. Ordered with Scott at World Wide Enterprises in MA for $2000 ea. for a total of $4000 including shipping.

I was just studying the rfu7300 . Because it is narrow , we can add extra insulation and possibly build a slide out pantry for can goods next to it .
