Howdy, WOGers
I am HAPPY. Our Webasto heater has been fixed and it is working very well. We were lucky to have a well-qualified technician as a guest in the park where we are wintering. Forest Duncan is his name and his firm's name is Forest RV Fix. His web site is http://www.forestrvfix.com. The phone number is 719-650-3287. Jack talked to him about our sick Webasto heater. On Monday, Forest came over to our Bird, diagnosed the problems and ordered parts. I requested overnight delivery. Late Tuesday AM, the parts arrived here in Dhanis, TX. Then we had to wait for the office to open at 2 PM. The heater was fixed and working by 4 PM. It is generating heat very nicely. Jack recommends Forest RV Fix. Forest has a lot of credentials after his name, including being an authorized service person for AquaHot, Webasto and some other heating systems. He knows a lot of stuff about RVs. He has a trailer and will travel. <grin> He and his wife are also SKPs. Warm and happy, Liz ![]()

Yes, the coach did come with a Primus. The previous owner had the Primus removed and the Webasto school bus heater installed. He said that he spent time in Tennessee in cold weather and spent $1,000 in propane for one month. So that was enough for him!!! We had a propane-fired Suburban furnace in our Serengeti motorcoach. The heating was not really evenly distributed throughout the coach. Lousy system in my opinion. Noisy too. I really like my Webasto school bus heater/hydronic system. Keeps the coach warm - the walls, the pipes, the cabinet interiors, etc. I also like the idea of having 300 gallons of fuel for the heater. No really stinky diesel odor either. Regards, Jack

Thanks Liz , thats a great point . I needed the propane man after 1 week in Cleveland last month. Do you have any idea of diesel consumption ? you know it does make sense to go Diesel, I mean what else would you use 300 g of fuel for . Good point Thanks

The Webasto 2010 Schoolastic burns .4 gal/hour. My Proheat claims about 1/3 gallon/hour. THose are continuous running values, if the unit gets the coach heated up and begins cycling the burner on and off, the number can drop quite a bit.
so 24 hours * .4 = 9.6 gallons/day running continuously, with a 60% duty cycle that is about 5.7 gal/day. There are a lot of days in 300 gallons.
