Default Speedo hookup

Dan,

I believe I can give you all that, but I am a little confused. My speedometer is in the bottom part of the dash, not the top part (the top part is where the gauges are) and the bottom part is what I was planning open up. I don't think I can see that harness by just taking off the top part with the gauges in it. Are we talking about the same thing? I believe by getting that bottom part open, everything will be apparent.

Anyway, give me a little time and I will get to it.

Default Wires

Dan,

I have my dash open, so give me a call before 2PM Eastern time or give me your cell number and I'll call you later and I'll tell you what I have. Some of it is like yours and some is not, but I think I have what you want

Lee Davis hooked me up with the connections to the speedo. The grey wire 417 speed signal, and the white wire 417 speed cruise both plug into the white wire from the speedo in the 3 wire sleeve.

This will likely fix my cruise control, I give it 95% chance of success.

I will test it Monday when I hit the road. No way to test sitting still that I know of, and weather is bad here right now.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Excellent news!!!

Any idea about the wires/connectors you found unconnected by the ECU. I assume they are not used at this point.

I look forward to a positive report Dan!!

Brad,

I found the grey wire 417 speed signal, and the white wire 417 speed cruise by opening the lower dash near the cruise ECU. Those are the wires now connected to the speedo - same as is Lee Davis' 95 BMC 37'.

There was one other unmarked white wire - and that wire did allow my speedo to read, but not the cruise. I "think" the speedo will work with the 2 417 wire plugged in. Lee Davis has a unconnected yellow wire in the same location as my white wire. It is possible this is the Spartan Chassis speedo signal, and with the Eco Cruise it is uneeded/replaced by the two 417 wires.

I will know Monday if weather allows travel. Rain/light snow falling right now in Lawton OK

I now have working cruise and speedo. Correct combination was grey wire 417 speed signal wire and unmarked white wire both connected to the white speedo wire. The white wire 417 speed cruise is unattached, but all is working. The green button for cruise on never lights up.

I am happy to be done with this job. Thanks to all for the help and suggestions.

Great news and congrats on your troubleshooting!!

For all we know the green light may just have a bad bulb, but who cares as long as the cruise works!!
