Default Convection Cooking 101 or you can teach this old girl a new trick

1. Press convection.

2. Select temperature. On mine it is right above each number on the minute selection keypad.

3. Select amount of cooking time. Enter on minute selection keypad.

4. It does preheat. Mine beeps when temperature is ready.

5. Open door, put in your tasty product.

6. Close door. Press start and bibbdy bobbdy boo.....you have mastered Convection 101!!!

Now my disclaimer: I am just the mouth piece for Ann Kehler.......but it did work for me!!! So, if questions, Ann will supply answers!

Enjoy!!

So, after using this method more than once....I just press the temperature, then start. It beeps when temp is reached. Open, set time, insert food, close door ....magically cooked food!! I set the timer first but that was an error. It just shut off when time was up.

And ... if all else fails ... see the instructions on the convection/microwave oven readout at the top of the oven. Voila! Cranberry orange muffins .. right Patti? Happy baking!

Amazing! However, I'm waiting for the next WOG approved built-in version: http://youtu.be/5ztwns5PkJY

So, Nancy how long has your coach had that new fangeled device?

Default Convection Cooking

We replaced our old convection microwave model with a Whirlpool and I have to say the convection instructions are way more complicated than the last one. Probably written by someone where English is not their first language.

I have figured out how to do it but after putting in the temperature and doing preheat, setting the time is apparently beyond me. I put in whatever I am cooking, it always goes to 4 hours when I try to get the right time , so I just have to set a normal kitchen timer to the time I want. No biggie, but weird.

A couple of convection oven baking questions... I don't think I'm really using it as a convection oven, I just bake in it like it is a regular oven, and it is doing ok.... Just a couple of things I would like to figure out better...

1) When baking biscuits for a group or cookies (something that has multiple trays that go in), we find that we need to re-preheat between each tray. It seems that once the timer time has run down, the oven starts cooling down. Is this normal and expected?
Note: this was particularly bad when we had 3 trays of biscuits to do for an invitation breakfast at Quartzsite - getting it up to 400 degrees was hard enough, but keeping it at that temperature was really challenging!

2) When baking, when I set convec, I think I can only set the time for a max of 99 minutes. I was making a beef roast the other day (something I usually do in the crockpot but was trying to do it differently), and I couldn't figure out how to set the cook time for longer than a 2 digit minute time. I may have just not found it... but was wondering if there is some secret.
I read in the convection oven book that if you use it to slow cook, it sets the timer to 4 hours, so the oven must have an hour setting somewhere...

3) I had thought about resolving the cool-down issue with #1 by setting the convec time for the cookies for longer than the total cook time of all the trays and using a separate timer to determine "take it out of the oven" time. Does anyone do this?

I also use it as a microwave oven, and that works just fine too.

I am wanting to remove our convection/microwave oven but am hesitant to replace it with a new one. I would be just as happy to put a toaster oven in it's place and call it a day! We also have the original stove that has NEVER been used. Will probably be removing that too. Has anyone just used a toaster oven? Thoughts?
