Default Wanted Tow Dolly for Mini

I'm looking to buy a tow dolly with brakes, capable of towing a Mini Cooper (auto Transmission)

Why not just put the Cooper in the back of your pickup and have both!!

I have been looking for the same thing for our Focus. What I am coming up with is a base dolly some where around 800-900 and then about 200 more for for brakes. One dealer ask me why I wanted brakes. I just told him I would be legal in all of the state. I have 3 big names that keep coming up: Demco,Master tow and stehl. Do not forget to check Craigs list.

Default Parting Out 84PT40...

John:

I considered that, but then I would have to have a set of ramps to drive the Mini in to the PU bed. What about a hoist on to of the bird and lift the Mini to the top?

While that's a great idea, you'd probably have to worry about clearance issues with that set up! You'd be first class going to Nascar races and the like. Comfortable seats, radio and A/C all with a great view on top of the bus!

Tommy

Will you have clearance issues with the dolly and mini ? I was looking at getting one for our prius but was told that the clearance would be a factor. The mini does not look like it is much higher...JOE

Default Tow Dolly for Mini

Joe:

Thanks for your comment. I am not sure however what you mean by "clearance" in using a two dolly for your Prius. Are you speaking of the clearance between the rear of the toad and the road? Could you elaborate.

Often the fenders on the dolly hit the side of the toad in tight turns. Seems like it only occurs on the wider toads, though. 2 weekends ago, we were parked next to a couple with a PT Cruiser on a dolly behind their bird. It didn't appear to have any clearance issues as they pulled out.
