Default July 4, 2026 Mt. Rushmore Rally Kick-Off

After 1-day to measure interest, the 2026 Mt. Rushmore Rally is officially ready for reservations. The rally dates are July 1 – 5, 2026, however the sites are available for rally-goers from June 27 – July 6, 2026. Because the 4th is on Saturday and currently fireworks at Mt. Rushmore are planned, we thought some people wouldn’t want to head out the next morning, instead relaxing a day then leaving on Monday. It’s an option and your choice. We’ll be leaving Monday.

The rally campground is the Sturgis RV Park, 1175 W Woodland Dr, Sturgis, SD 57785 (605-720-1501 Mary or Lori). Tell them you are reserving for the “Bluebirds at Sturgis Mini-Rally”. The nightly rate is $60. They offer a 10% discount for AAA, AARP, and Military. If the rally has 15 or more rigs everyone will get the 10% discount. They also offer a weekly rate (stay for 7, pay for 6) for those who would like to come in earlier or stay later - that rate is $360 plus tax. When you reserve you must pay a 1-day deposit. If you cancel the deposit is not refunded.

The rally has the entire NEMO section of the campground, approximately 36-sites, blocked off (see map). These sites are all blocked and on hold until July 31, 2025 for booking for the rally. After this date the sites will be released to the public. If you chose to attend after July 31st it will depend on their availability. The sites are all concrete full-hookup with 30/50-amp service. Theres a pavilion and an event center available to the rally at no cost. The event center has a commercial kitchen and I’m told seating for 100 shouldn’t be an issue.

July 4th is the 250-yr anniversary of the United States. The town of Sturgis will have fireworks on the 3rd. The campground is having a free BBQ on the 3rd for their campers. Mt. Rushmore will have fireworks on the 4th. No fireworks are allowed in the campground. Other potential activities could be day trips to places like Devils Tower, Spearfish, Deadwood, Crazy Horse, Badlands National Park, and more. Travel time from the campground to most of these sites is roughly an hour as Sturgis is somewhat centrally located.

Group activities are currently TBD. Probably a meet-n-greet on Wednesday the 1st. Maybe a group dinner on the 2nd in town? Dinner on the 3rd is the campground BBQ. Dinner on the 4th depends on events at Mt. Rushmore. A group dinner in town on the 5th for those leaving on Monday? All a work in progress

I think they are excited about the Rally. She just called me back and asked if we wanted to stay 7 nights as it the same price as 6. So that’s what we are doing.
