Default Intermittent Electric Power

I was wondering if any one has any ideas on why my electric power either coming from shore or the generator has become intermittent? The power will be on, then about every 5 to 8 minutes the power cuts off between 10 to 15 seconds then comes back on. I first thought the RV park was doing it, so I disconnected the shore line and started running the generator, but it continue to do it with the generator.

Thanks,

There are several possibilities depending on how your coach is wired.
First, it could be a flaky transfer switch, is yours manual or automatic?

It could be a faulty inverter--depending on how yours is set up the AC may pass through it via an internal relay and a problem with the control circuit could drop the power.

I have a progressive surge protector which will drop the power if there is a voltage or frequency or other problem. Usually they are on the shore power only, however.

The fact that it cycles on and off in kind of a predictable manner suggests some control circuit is an issue. Generator and shore power both failing kind of suggests the transfer switch.

Do you hear the telltale sound of a relay thumping when it fails or restores?

Thanks Gardner,

I have a manual transfer switch, but would sure like an automatic.

I do hear a click or knocking sound when it restores that appears to be coming for the mid sections fo the coach. I assumed it was the microwave/confection cycling back on, but it appears to be to load of a knock to be that.
