Default Powertech oil pressure question

Recently I got the Kubota running in the '00 and the power output has been steady. However, the other day it was not making power and a quick scan of the gauges revealed the oil pressure gauge was pegged all the way to the right. I shut down the generator and restarted it a few minutes later and the pressure gauge was reading correctly and the unit started making power as it should. This morning I went out there to do some work and I am having the same problem. Pressure gauge pegged way right and no power output. Pressing the start/stop switch down in the stop position and the gauge will return to 0 and then peg right as soon as the generator is started again.

There seem to be 2 oil pressure switches. One is a 2 pole located right above the starter (which I think is the low pressure kill switch). The other is a single pole located near the bottom of the block. Is this the one that sends info to the gauge? Would this be preventing the power tech from making power or are the two issues unrelated. Any advice is welcomed along with instructions on how to test or part numbers.

Dave almost sounds like its a ground issue or something that may be affecting the oil pressure gauge, they may be related. Some of those senders peg like that when they are grounded, not sure on those which way they operate.

I was never able to find a comprehensive (and 100% accurate) schematic of the generator 12v electrical system when I was having problems with shutdowns. The solution ended up being damaged wire insulation causing a short under a ziptie tightened by the incredible hulk when he installed my generator.

I can tell you that based on what I learned from studying available schematics and chasing everything down, I would be really intrigued to find out how these issues are related if they are. The wiring for the oil pressure gauge is pretty independent. Perhaps check that it is tight in the terminal block in the box behind the hour meter above the radiator fan.

When you check the generator voltage output at the automatic transfer switch what voltage are you getting when it is "not making power"?

Might want check the blue wire in your box up top that connects to the AVR for the intermittent power issue. It vibrated loose on mine one time. I was ready to install a new AVR at the time and was thrilled to just tighten up and push the spade connector back on.

Here is the schematic that Mallie provided me several months ago.

Thanks guys. I'll check these issues this afternoon. Too cold to work outside this morning.

I wanted to follow up with this issue since I have fiddled with it a bit.

I started the generator again the other day and the oil pressure gauge immediately pegged all the way right and the generator would not make power. While the Kubota was running, I disconnected the single wire from the end of the oil pressure sending unit located just below the fuel filter curb side. The oil pressure gauge inside did not change but the generator started making power. After the Kubota had been running for about an hour or so with no issues, I decided to reconnect the wire at the end of the oil pressure sending unit and the gauge started reading correctly. I went out to the coach today and started the generator. Same issue, Guage pegged, no power output, disconnected the wire at the oil pressure sending unit, Gen created power, reconnected wire, no power output, disconnected wire, power returned, after unit was good and warm, reconnected wire and gauge started reading correctly.

Tomorrow I will try and remember to remove the oil pressure switch and get some numbers off of it and order a new one.

Will be interesting to see if replacing the sender does the trick. Keep us posted.
