How to Read Harness Drawings?
Hey Guys,
I was hoping someone can teach me how to read the wiring harness schematics and what the numbers mean. A snapshot of a drawing is attached. Specifically, on my LX40, I see that I have an Instahot breaker with a wire attached to it, but I don't have an Instahot. I was hoping to find the other end of this wire capped off somewhere near the kitchen sink and use this circuit for an induction stove. Some people have said the stove top will draw current even when it's off, so I was thinking I could just turn the breaker off when not using the stove. If the circuit is there, I don't know where it is, and I'm hoping to learn how to read these harness diagrams. Thanks a lot,

I wish I knew exactly as well. Here's what I have figured out:
The [#1] is the number on the actual wire (romex). I've seen them using those stick on tape numbers. As for the [13/3] and [6/3], I'm pretty sure those are 'rib' numbers, referring to the steel ribs that make up the exterior shell. So rib 1 is somewhere across the drivers head, and rib 16 is over the back bedroom. I don't know what the '3' means. I've only seen those second numbers below '4', so maybe its divisions of ribs? Or some other minor designation of where the wire splits off. Between the 13/3 and 6/3 I believe the wire runs along the wall from back to front. The [8'] and [16' (or 16"??)] markings are lengths of wire from where they deviate from the main run off the ribs. I'd guess at the factory they had a huge board the size of the whole bus with pegs numbered for each rib. Then the wire loom builders would drape wires over the pegs following the run sheets, adding the indicated length, and then number them and bundle them together as harnesses.

Kevin, not sure if this will help at all, but the wiring for our instant hot comes up through the floor near the water lines for the sink. It goes to a switch in a junction box in front of the sink with another switch for the engine block heater.

That helps a lot Jim...thank you! Hopefully my LX is the same as your LXi. I'll take a look.

Hey Jim...not yet. I really wanted to get a trip in before winter so I'm on the road now and saving this project for later. I ran out of time to pull this off.
In Grapevine, Texas now, then checking in to Camp Margaritaville in Crystal Beach, Texas for a week beginning Saturday.
