First post here:
We purchased a 1974 31FC in poor condition about a year ago. After some new battery terminals and replacing the gunked carburetor with a brand new Holley 4-barrel we were able to start and drive it. With the amount of smoke the engine produced, it was evident that there was some issues with the engine sealing and compressing properly... I figures with only 55,000 miles it would turn out fine... Then I found out how difficult parts for this engine are to come by... We have made the decision to repower to a diesel for increase in power and mileage and better parts availability for on-road issues and mechanical work. So, my post here is to see if anyone would be interested in the motor and trans combo off of our bird? Hoping to sell the whole combo and not deal with parting out as I dont have space. Would be nice to see these parts go to use and not to a junkyard. It will be several weeks/a month or so before the replacement engine is tuned and ready to be swapped. Located in Fort Worth, Texas. Alternatively if someone has knowledge about what parts are valuable enough to save or resell from this engine, let me know below, or DM.

I will be sure to do so. I know it will be important when it comes time to say farewell and sell the ol girl.
And for those who are curious I do plan on posting a thorough outline of the process and performance of the engine once things are settled in.

Does the 74 have juice brakes ?
I have a friend with a 1970 BB with the same Ford motor in it. I’m doing some work on it for him. From what I can see so far it’s running okay just need some of the ignition parts replaced, coil etc. A repower would definitely help.
