Hey All,
I am still in the market for an FC and I found one about 1500 miles away that looks like a good deal. It needs some work but looks like it has excellent potential. Does anyone know this bus? https://bellingham.craigslist.org/rv...920432877.html I would need to fly to Vancouver and pick it up in Blaine, WA and then drive it home. So I need to be pretty sure this is the coach for me before I do that. Does anyone see any red flags here? Are there any important questions I need to ask the seller? I plan to ask about the tire codes, potential roof leakage visible in pics and shore power switch issue (though I will likely revamp the shore/gen/charging system anyway. I also plan to ask the seller to take short videos of the bus and generator starting and running. Thanks.

Is it for you? That is totally up to you. It looks like it needs a lot of attention in my book. How handy are you? How deep are your pockets? It just takes lots of time and money.

Jacob,
How handy are you? I would break it down into what has to be done to drive it home, then what has to be done to make it liveable again. Sitting 5 years is rough (see the sellers notes on the electrical stuff - direction signals etc. - that has failed). Common wisdom after sitting is all engine fluids and hoses, batteries and tires. How is the air system? Is it a turbo engine (250 HP Turbo). Does it have a swing radiator? If it were me I would want at least an additional $10,000 to get it home. Then find someone near Bellingham that knows diesels and these chassis parts (they are standard parts) to go over it if you are not a diesel mechanic. Once you get it home you can deal with the plumbing and electrical issues, air conditioners and furnaces, cooking and installing a hot water heater. These vehicles are worth it, but I would like this one better if it was a little cheaper. I bought my '83 35' FC SB for $23,000 and drove it home... Still have to invest at least $5,000 a year, but it is a great full time RVing home.

Chances are it's turbo-charged as it's a '83. Looks like 5 grand to me, plumbing, DC electrical issues, then there's belts, hoses, hows the radiator, got to look it over hard first. Fools errand to think it's going to make CO from where it's sitting with out a big time check out, new tires for sure, at the least.
OP, re-read your post, this one isn't for you, believe me.
