Default SP 36 or similar

I am interested in buying a SP 36 or similar that has an 8.3 cummins original or has been repowered, will also look at one with a bad engine to be repowered. 70's 80's model. I do prefer a single axle pusher.
I have a 76 and a 77 Newell now the 76 is not quite finished. I put about 4000 miles on the 77 and love it. I have been wanting a bird but not a fan of the old v8 engines, as with the Newells. So if anyone has one or knows the whereabouts of one it would be greatly appreciated.

Early Wanderlodges did not have Cummins engines, only The BMC.

I have never driven a stock sp36 but can attest that my repowered unit has been rock solid mechanically. Some day would like to add a pac brake, but otherwise the conversion has served me well for past couple years. Only significant mechanical repair to bus chassis that i have made was a new air drier and a leaking air line to sewer valves. Gearing is such that sixth gear engages only above 55mph. Thanks Woody and Randy.

As much as i like my 8.3, I wonder if a m11 cummins would fit? There are some bmcs with these motors. I have lots of leftover room in engine bay and find right foot flat to floor going uphill on freeways. The bird is so smooth and comfortable, more speed is addictictive.

Hey now your talkin, I would be interested. Looking for a shorter diesel pusher bird, I like the vintage classics but hotrodded or a good start of one, I am totally in for a M11. We have some tight places here and some bad roads. I like power and appreciate quality, don't know a lot about birds but I know wanderlodges have ledgendary quality, but I like the newer I6 powertrain, my Newells both have wedge brakes with rockwell diffs, I am thinking of upgrading to s-cams and Newer suspension.
Not sure what wanderlodge had in the 70's. I would guess the same. I love to tinker on these classic coaches and with the right upgrades they can be some sweet old gems.

The M-11 swap would be something I would love to hear more about. Our kitty is running good at the moment, but as a pilot there is never "too much power" for me!
