Regarding boon docking: IMHO the best rigs for boon docking would be an early FC as they do not have the same electronics and monitors the later Birds have. Those monitors increase the current load on the batteries.
The only place we have boon docked for any length of time is Quartzsite during January. We can have 70+ rigs there at any one time. There you will find early and late model Birds. All seem to do well. (Check out "Birds of a Feather" group) Good graded road to the gathering area so no issues with "off-road" obstacles. We camp for about 2 weeks there. We have no issues with the stay. Our experiences have been positive. The BMC does well. However, the ability of the coach is based more on your ability to conserve resources. If you insist on long showers, watching satellite TV each night, all the lights on, etc., then it may be a struggle. If you use LED lights, conserve water usage and run the generator as needed to recharge batteries or cooking then it will be fun. As each rig is different depending on usage and modifications by owners. Some have all electric coaches. Some have huge solar electric arrays and battery banks. As built, a BMC will boon dock fine IMHO if you run the generator occasionally or if needed daily and conserve resources. Just my thoughts........ FYI, we have 100 gallon fresh water, 75 gallon each gray and black water. We have three 4D AGM house batteries and a small two panel solar system. We have converted most lights inside to LED. Solar will not keep the batteries up forever so we run the generator as needed to maintain them. Usually about every other day for 1-2 hours.

 We are all proud of our specific models and rightfully so. If I had my way we would be in 80's FC. My wife overruled me hence our SP. I love it too now. Boondocking is our favorite way to travel and BMC/Wanderlodges are outstanding for doing that. At Quartzite we go 2 weeks between water/ dump trips. (We stock up on deodorant before hand.) I still chuckle at the genny use there. NOBODY wants to be the first to start their genny in the morning but once the first one starts the Orchestra starts up. we sold our SOB at a big loss and bought our '92 SP thru Randy and BBBird. It was the best decision we have ever made.
