I would have to find a map to tell you what roads in Canada to travel, but i can say we traveled every paved road in Alaska and lots of gravel roads.
But,Alaska is the destination, the adventure is getting there, and Canada has some awesome scenery.

When we started talking about or 2015 trip there was one road I wanted to travel and that was Glacier Parkway in BC. It was great but there are many many more roads with beautiful sites. Around every turn is a view to remember. DO NOT rush through Canada getting to Alaska. You will miss half the trip.

Default Thanks, Everyone, for your comments!

For those not yet retired, Boo hoo...I feel for you! Been there, done that!

Thanks, Randy, for affirming our decision NOT to Ferry (which Liz would not authorize funds for anyway).

We are planning 3 months or more. We NEVER hurry. Or even Plan, really. There are a few pins we hope to put in the map, based on suggestions people have made. For example, a Music Festival in Chicken, Ak. Called "Chickenstock." How can we NOT do that.

We'll try not to rush through BC or anywhere else. 4 hours per day driving. Never after dark. Of course, it doesn't GET dark, but still... Will post all our adventures on our blog (www.arewewhereyet.us)

I went up on BMW motorcycle with a couple of friends in 2004.
We crossed the border into Canada just east of Glacier NP. Continued North by Watertown NP up past Banff, Jasper and on through the Icefields Parkway area. That section of the trip was pretty fantastic for mountains and scenery etc. After that, the AlCan highway is very remote and long but very historic and well worth a trip up through there.

After Whitehorse, we turned North off the AlCan and went to Dawson City, Yukon Territory.
Do not miss this historic Gold mining town. That leads you right onto the “Top of The World” dirt highway which will take you to Chicken AK and on over into the heart of Alaska.

After that, just wander around Alaska till it’s time to head south before the snow flies.

Come south on the Cassiar HWY back down toward Vancouver or Wherever.

I’m still working for a few more years but that is my tentative itenary when my wife and I head that way after retirement.

Everything is expensive. Fuel and food especially. Be sure your rig is up to snuff, unexpected repairs could cost a fortune. One of my friends in a Pusher SOB got a rock into his plastic radiator fan and was disabled near Whitehorse for a few days. The AlCan will be under construction in sections ranging from Pothole repair to 5 mile long complete rebuilds so be ready for delays and gravel.

Don’t push to keep a schedule. Enjoy a flexible schedule and know that many of us will be here wishing we could be with you.
