thanks for the confirmation, along with the data sheet from John Wyatt, I’m covered on parts, thanks again. You guys are great. The first thing the you guy working here started to try to tell me was that I needed to bring the parts because “old stuff is always special order and we don’t have it and it...” I said the part number, he said “oh we have those” and immediately got jacks out.

I’m fully expecting this. Only hope is that the drums are serviceable. I’m also going to ask if they can inspect the front as well

Hubs are off, brake shoes are getting replaced, drums looks fine. bearings look good so far. Seals are obviously shot. Axle vent looks ok externally. Removing it soon.

I have 2 notches drums, one on each side, can and SHOULD I pull one off to preserve? And replace with a new basic drum?

I am under the impression that the electronic sensor system is only on a single wheel? And with new notched drums being $1,000 at Napa now-a-days. I’m thinking ahead.

My understanding is one side is for the speedo, the other for the cruise control.

Look to see if both sides have sensors. You might not care about the cruise if it's not working or if you have a GPS speedo.

I think your drums should last a couple 100 thousand miles unless you overheat them. I looked for drums it’s possible to have them made with the notches but in the end my drums were still in good condition.

After you are done and refill the diff, make sure there is fluid at the bearings before driving off. Shane had his done and made it a few miles before seizing the wheel bearings and busting the ring gear in the diff.
