Hey yall just a quick question about the 15kw powertech used in the 94 vintage wb. Is the no load engine speed adjustable down to tick over and if so by what means?

sure, but if you lower the RPM it will not make any AC power.
why do you want to lower the RPM?

Randy, Im thinkin bout not using the ac head, not removing it or anyting just not connecting any load. Instead using a permanent magnet dc generator drivin off the crank to charge batteries as they are generally about 90% eff compared to about 60 some% for an alt. For all my ac loads Ill just invert off of the battery bank. I was thinking about using a small Hatz diesel for this purpose but shoot the bota's allready there.
Peace&Love, Darren Shameless plug http://renewablelube.com just cause there cool for doing it.

ok.
If you look on top of the govener housing theres a threaded screw that acts as a stop for a lever. The idle speed is adjustable by screwing that screw in or out.

Darren,
You can download the complete Powertech manual by going to; Wanderlodge Owners Group > Mechanic's Corner > Generators > Powertech Generator Manual just remember to follow the instructions about viewing the manual right side up.

Diesel stoves have been used on boats for years as well as fireplaces/heaters etc.
I've never fully understood why RV companies didn't heed the lessons of cruising boaters.

Paul,
I am guessing, but propane on a boat presents a much bigger risk since a leak would collect in the bilge. I wonder if it would even be legal to put a propane tank in the bilge, and it would look pretty ugly on deck. I know you need to run the blower to clear the bilge before starting the engine, but still! An RV leak would drop to the ground and dissipate, just open the door and and windows and step out. I would also guess a diesel fired stove is more expensive than a propane stove?
