Rhode Island Air Show
This is a great show for the RV'ers. The FMCA does have a chapter rally going on at this event, however, the Air Guard offers plenty of dry camping on some of the acres of concrete around the base. The Blue Angels are the headline demonstration. It takes place June 27-28 this year. The base is in Quonset, RI which is near Jamestown and Newport. We have attended this event before and the Air Guard puts on a great show, the camping in the past has been free and of course the show is as well.

This sounds interesting and is not a long trip for me. The website indicated limited RV parking? Is the national guard parking a separate area or arrangement?

We are attending. We went two years ago but not last year, the Blue Angels were at a base in Maine instead because it was do to close. They use a large area that is fenced, all concrete, and it did not fill up. The base is an old WWII base so it seems to be a sea of concrete and old hanger buildings. Now it is the 143rd air lift (c-130's), you camp in plain view of the active runways and the show. Though you can easily see the show from the camping area, it is a short car ride, or long walk, to go in and see the static display's. The Guard was great, they put on a great show and made it a blast. We are going to go on Saturday and spend the night. The FMCA rally is Thursday after 3pm until Monday at 9am, we will skip the rally part and as usual, do our own thing. The base is about 15 minutes off of 95.

I would expect to arrive on Friday night. I sent an e-mail to the contact address to see where space is available and how to find it. Hopefully I will get a response.

Whats the website for the air show. I found Quonset Point, RI on the map, I'm assuming thats where it's at. Which makes the Ct. Indian Casino's (with free RV parking) right on the way. I see a plan formulating!
