Default 1970 FC 31 - Restoration - Gasser

Well I have finally gotten around to posting about my 70' FC 31. My wife and I purchased this back in 2016. It has undergone an extensive interior, exterior, and mechanical renovation. I have hundreds of pictures to share, of before and after.

Yes, this is an old gasser, and I intend to keep it this way. I went through extremes to keep this Bird as original as possible, to preserve the history and heritage of the original gas powered Birds. I will get a diesel Bird some day, but this one will be kept as a part of my collection!

The rebuilt Ford 391 Big Block runs like a scalded dog and Magnaflow exhaust rumbles like a 1970 Mustang, cruises at 55 MPH at 2500 RPM @ 7.5 MPG. Riding on new Goodyear G399 LHS tires and Alcoa 24.5'' aluminum rims. New 7,000 watt Onan Marquis Gold generator (400 hrs now), (2) new Dometic 13,500 BTU A/Cs, new everything with a vintage feel. Brakes and power steering have been completely rebuilt, hoses, wheel cylinders, pads, gaskets, seals, and fittings.

This bus was the "Jim Carey" bus http://jimcarey.us/70bluebird/

If anyone is wondering...the paint has held up incredibly well. The bus was repainted by the factory in the late 90s. It needs a few touch-ups, but is a real head-turner.

This forum has been an incredible resource, although I have utilized it mostly from a reader standpoint up until now. Thank you!

The attached pictures are of the Bus in its current state!

Nice bird! The dog looks like he's saying ' what are we waiting for? Lets go. Do I have to drive?'

Great that you decided to maintain its originality. At some point its just easier to replace and update. I am encouraged to see that some of these beautiful machines remain authentic and original. Nice Job!

Looks great. Would love to see more pictures. Looks like you painted the interior and added wood flooring?
