Default 1978 FC Toilet

I have a 1978 FC with what I believe is the original toilet. I took it camping for the first time last weekend and noticed I had a leak in the line which was easily fixed by tightening a clamp. I also have a leak around the bottom of the toilet which was not so easily fixed.

I pulled the toilet out (need to be plastic man to reach those nuts in the front and back) and was planning on replacing. New toilet fastens at 3 and 9 o clock. No problem, just replace old hardware that is screwed to the floor; right. Unfortunately the 46 year old screws do not want to come out and I would like to avoid drilling them out unless I absolutely have to.

Original toilet studs are at 5 and 11 o clock (front and back). It looks like the thetford bravura has the same stud position. Can anyone confirm before I spend $200 on a non returnable toilet?

Thanks.

The toilet flange sits on plywood over steel. You can make new pilot holes for the new commode.

I replaced my setup and the flange down to the tank, its un-Screws'. I just replaced the united with a new one unite. The hole was oblong, so I made a new oak fitting to glue in and stappled in. Then just a slandered fitting fixed the problem.

I had the same toilet in my 78FC35. I pulled it out (bus not running) and installed it into my 83FC35 when that toilet finally gave up. Now it's starting to stink so replacing it again with a new Thetford Bravura this Friday (on order). Wed or Thur I'll pull the old one so can verify pattern for you.

I've already rebuilt this toilet once before, bottom foot valve & toilet knife seal. I've looked for other toilets but really like these and they perform great. I like the higer profile and oval bowl/seat.

Heh, you'll find you have to be 'plastic man'/'rubber man'/'guy with octopus tentacles for for fingers' when doing a LOT of things on this machines!!

I'm still amazed at how big these things are yet how little room there is to work on things that are on them..

Here you go.
The Bravura has 3 sets of holes
#1 - 3 & 9 o'clock
#2 - 5 & 11 o'clock
#3 - 4:30 & 10:30

My install used holes #2.

You can always turn the flange (or put in a new one).
