Default 99 lx fuel bowl

found the need to replace my fuel bowl. got one from fleetguard. was curious so matched part no. to napa and got theirs to compare. no significant difference between either that i can see except napa cost $60 and fleetguard cost $150. both need fuel heater access hole drilled out.

fleetguard # 394839500 S

napa # 600136

i find a filter without the bowl on the bottom.
Way cheaper, less places to leak or suck air, win, win.

i'm on a learning curve relative to these motors. totally understand reducing potential air leaks which i expect is why the mechanic put a luberfiner LFF8038 on the bus or he was just hoping to shove me out the door.

does the fuel heater serve a useful purpose during regular use or only if operating sub 40 degree?

I recently replaced mine with the Fleetguard unit, but it wasn't equipped for the bowl heater. The previous one dribbled, and my new one dribbles too. I've cranked and tightened, but it seems to be a recurring leaker.

I'm liking Randy's idea of a regular spin-on filter in that spot. Have yet to see any moisture that needed to be drained, and I sure would like to stop the leaking. Maybe there's more to it than I know though...

I have also had leaks with the clear bottom type filters, never again.
My aquahot (like all of them on Birds)came with a clear bottom filter,i changed it out to a regular filter too.

Randy I thought I had seen a post where you had two filters. Was this a standard item or did you add a two filter setup
