I'm not sure if this is correct or not but I have this in my notes:

Blue Bird #3851920 - Rheostat, 6 Ohm, 50 Watt Model J

I am guessing based on everyone’s silence, they do not have an answer for you. Does your bird have 2 rheostats? One for the dash and one for the upper? If so, you can take the other one out and measure it with an ohm meter. I am not sure if they used the same rheostat for the PTs but if I think about it next time I am in my dash I will measure mine and let you know what the resistance is. From there you should be able to match it up to one available from an electronics supplier. In the old days I would tell you to take it down to radio shack, that is not much of an option anymore.

These should be the OHMITE Model"J" rheostat, Insulated for 300 volts. You will need to see if you can measure the resistance of the good one as they should be the same OHMS.

Make sure you order the correct wattage, but I think something around 50 watts may be sufficient, but check.
