Default A Monaco on the side of the road

A Monaco on the side of the road, is there a song there?

Today I wanted to get an early start on the holiday weekend so I left my wife and headed to Charlestown State Park. Don’t worry tonight she showed up. Well when I got to the park entrance there was this 02 Monaco Winsor on the side of the road just outside the gate but not in the traffic. Let me begin by saying some folk should just stick to a pop up... It appears this guy came all the way from North Carolina to Louisville to have 8 teeth pulled. Like they have no dentist in NC? Well this guy’s coach had done the squat, no air in the air ride leveling system. The coach had 90 – 120PSI at all times but it just squat and left him stranded on the side of the road. Front and rear fenders were down on the tires. This guy was a musician and not a wrench turner. He had a $10,000 guitar lying on the sofa but he didn’t have a pair to pliers or one wrench. A pair of channel locks and a very small Phillips screw driver, that was it, period… Not even a roll of Duct Tape for Pete’s Sake. He asked if I liked Country Music and I said only if it was good, he told me he use to play with Waylon Jennings. To me that was bad country music. To assist him I looked for an air governor but could not find one. I was hoping a whack or two would get him going. We could not find an air governor. The coach was so low by fat butt was not crawling under it. He had called Monaco but they did not have a service tech with enough knowledge at that time, their ‘lunch’ hour, to give any assistance. The tech did say to crawl under the coach and turn the “T” valves to manually bypass the air system to air up the coach. The owner did crawl under the coach but could not comprehend righty tighty, lefty loosey. So he broke the nipples off the T valve so he could not get a grip to turn them with his channel locks. He called the largest RV dealer in the area “Tom Stinnett” who would not send anyone out because they had "NO Roadside Assistance Service”. He again called Monaco who suggected he call Premier RV who had gone bankrupt 3 years ago and was no longer in business. I suggested he call HWH, 2 hours later HWH returned his call. With the assistance from HWH and my horrible freight volt meter we were able to bypass the travel height power point on the main board to get the coach to air up, to get him on his way. I spent nearly 3 hours with him doing whatever I could and I called Randy to see if he could help and he passed us the HWH 800 number.
Before I found this guy his day already was shot to heck he drug his Saturn for 4 miles with the car in gear and blew a tire. I contribute this guy’s bad day to a few poor decisions or faults of his own, first he was on drugs for pain so he was not thinking clearly; second he did not know which end of the screwdriver to hold, maybe the drugs again. He ran the generator too long it ran out of fuel so he had to get a service call from Good Sam to deliver 20 gallons of fuel. Before the guy left I asked him if he was a member of the Monaco Owner’s Forum he asked what was that? Boy I’m glad we have a forum or 2 or three to keep our birds rolling. Maybe someday he’ll own a bird for better roadside assistance..

Have him play his music backwards and he will get his Monaco back

He didn't happen to have a spare notched rear brake drum for an FC did he?

Great story John, but no offense, Waylon Jennings (RIP) IS one of the greats and an American Treasure. Even Johnny Cash thinks highly of him. Tell us is your new found Monaco friend on stage with him here? Check it out!
