Caterpillar 3208 Solutions This sub-forum is hosted by Mike Hohnstein who has been at this kind of thing for 50+ years now, guess I'm addicted. The saga has been all about progressively larger shop space since then. Honestly, never wanted to get into the CAT 3208's that were originally considered to be a throwaway engine but that's all that works in a FC in my world. Same thing with my Ford toter, that came with a NA, too much effort to hang in a 6, so been at it with the CAT V-8 for 20 years now. In reality you can get excellent life out of a CAT 3208 if it's built correctly. Post your questions about the CAT 3208 engines here and Mike will try to help you out. |

Road service might be the best bet, or a tow. I have a friendly motorcycle shop in Batesburg, but the nearest professional bus service is here in Augusta, there is a possibility that Kelli and ToeJoe can help you from Augusta if you don't have any luck, they will be on their way to Beaufort tonight so it's best that I call and check with them as soon as I know. Call me if you need me to intervene - 804-357-4926

We’re off the road in a good safe spot, on concrete, by a diner where lots of trucks pull off. Owner said ok so I’m going to open the front end and determine how big a puller I need before I go into town for part.
Thanks all. Will keep posted. Ain’t WOG wonderful?

I didn’t get your email Randy, billlott@cox.net
Got the front end opened and ready to loosen belts. Took an hour but hey, I’m on the side of the road. Anybody with an FC should be familiar with that drill and not wait for a breakdown. Glad I replaced hardware and used anti seize earlier. Still need to get a puller and new part.

Yes, thanks. The new dampener from Atlanta arrived at West Columbia Cat at 2am and I was there an hour later to pick it up. Got a couple hours sleep and will start installing shortly.
Sincere thanks to all for the support and calls. We should be ok and back on the road today.

Bill, I've been in this position before and I'm sure I will again. As long as you are in a good location than its not too bad
