1989 SP Auxiliary Air Pump

I haven't had much of a chance to mess with the auxiliary air pump - cargo hatch-driver side. In the rear most passenger side hatch (where the hot water heater, water pump etc.) there is an outlet labeled "AIR". I'm assuming that this the outlet for the auxiliary air pump.

This air coupling is larger that the common 1/4" coupling - the air plug on the coil hose just goes right in.

Do I need a larger (3/8?) air plug or an adapter to go down to the 1/4 coupling or is this coupling in this compartment something completely different?

That will supply air from the coaches air system, you just need to get the correct fitting

It must be a 3/8" or 1/2" coupling

I haven't messed with the auxiliary air pump much - there must be a outlet near the pump.

The aux pump that runs off 120 volt and the main engine compressor, both will supply air to the coaches air system.
And hence that air value that you are referring to.

If anyone knows what that fitting is I'd be interested in a part number or link. I have the same fitting and have not been able to fine the male part. I was going to change it to a different fitting but even with the biggest wrench on it I couldn't get it off. But mine is kind of in the tight location.

Doug, I don’t now exactly what the size is, but I bought some universal fittings ( they fit multiple sizes) from autozone auto parts .
And one fit.

while you are changing the coupling it is a good time to add a pressure guage

That is a great feature,too bad its plumbed with 1/4'' tubing.
which has an inside hole of about 1/8''.
the volume of air coming from that tiny tube will not do much,and it will not do it fast.
I came off the air dryer with a 5/8 plastic air line and went to a standard coupler,now i can air stuff up!
