Default Racor fuel filter leak

I have a 1990 SP36 with a leaking Racor 900FG fuel filter. Leak is coming from the upper left electrode on the plastic bottom bowl. I aggravated it by trying to remove the wire, so I stopped trying to pull it off to look at the issue closer. Drips about every 10 seconds now.
First, can the wire just be pulled off?
Second, can this leak be repaired by replacing an o-ring or does the bowl need to be replaced.
Thanks, Pete

Two for water in fuel alarm.
Two for a heater to warm the fuel below about 35/40 degrees F.
Parts can be purchased. wire connections are not a serious issue, but the leak and the connections should be repaired.

Hi Peter,

I believe the electrical connection just "pulls" off a post. Raycor has a complete seal kit, part number RK 11-1404. Seels for about $42.99 and contains all new seals.

Good luck with it!

I’ve been there!!
Never could get a good long lasting seal if the wires are pulling on the pins it will leak again
So here is what I did
Got a new bowl off evil bay for $18
Then got a later model water pick up that mounts in the bottom of the new bowl
Then drilled a hole and taped in the filter aluminum body
For the heater if you don’t have a heater then you will not need to drill

If you don’t need a check ball and seal, which you probably won’t, you can just get the seals from any packing/o-ring place either locally or online way cheaper than the Racor kit.

-237 x 1
-212 x 1
-011 x 1
-006 x 2 or 4 depending on how many pins you have

Get a second set of hands to hold the bowl while you seat the pins with new o-rings and insert the clips. Easy peasy

Thanks to all. I'll get the o-rings and make the repair.

You know, those clear bottoms get hard and brittle, for the money i would get a new bowl.
The new bowl may come with the new drain valve in the bottom too, when they break it will make you mad as heck.

If you’re going to replace the bowl, at least get a genuine Parker Racor one. If real ones are $20 or less on eBay I’d love the source. The one I repaired was in pretty good shape, some very light crazing which easily polished out. I have no qualms about reusing it.
