Default 1989 SP Mid entry door latch

Hi everyone,
I bought a1989 SP in the Fall of 2022 from a gentleman that had the misfortune of blowing up the motor on the Ohio Turnpike,3208t Cat. The failure of the lower bearings sent a rod through the side of the block. After purchase I contracted a trucking co.with an RGN trailer for the 600 mile trek to LI NY. Where when finally home I pulled the engine out of the bus.I located a donor motor in Vermont for a reblock/rebuild. While it’s out I’m completing Numerus projects on the bus.One of the small ones is this latch depicted below which looks like it is missing something on the end to hold it attached more securely to the door. Any help is appreciated.I’ve been following the WOG and have found a wealth of information.. Thank you.

John W,could you move this thread to the proper location?

John Smith,i think you have the complete latch, you may need to bend the hook on the end a little more.

Ok thank you. I see a hole in the arm and thought maybe there was something possibly with a detente there. The sheet metal on the end does appear rather flimsy.

That hole would normally have a little rubber bumper to protect the paint when the door is closed. Looks like you have a bumper that’s glued on the side.

yes, the hook end rusts can be replaced and pop rivet or screw inside the channel, the other end should have a torsion spring to hold against the body with a protective rubber bumper

Thank you,
Yes it does have the rubber bumper and does have the tension spring to hold it against the bus when not in use.
