1986 PT40 - thinking of selling

So, I'm toying with selling my PT40. Yes, I just bought it this year, and yes, I love it. No, I'm not leaving Birds. I'm 6'3", and thanks to Don Bradner, I realized the WB models have more headroom. After hitting my head many times this year, and coming across a possible good deal on a WB, I'm thinking of "trading up". But to do so, I need to sell mine first, as there is no way I'm going to be a 2 Bird man.

My coach is Roy Anderson's former coach, which I think many of you know. I bought it this spring and spent the magic $10K after purchase on things like a new air compressor and coolant lines, complete fluids/filters change, 6 new tires, 7 new batteries and cables, new Xantrex and rewiring, new mattresses (twins) and new interior overhead door compartment shocks. I'm sure I'm missing some items but these are the big ones. The good thing is this coach is truly "ready to roll", as it was for us this year, we put about 8000 miles on it with no problem. All systems work except the dash air conditioning. The interior is in good shape, clean but could use updating. I was going to do that in a year or two, as we have a puppy and wanted to "wear it in" before changing anything. Rugs and wood in kitchen are ok and clean, just older. Upholstery is light blue leather and captains chairs are in the "worst shape" meaning there are some wear areas and small rips here and there. Roy had cats and they liked to scratch I guess.

If I don't sell it no sweat at all, I love the coach and will learn to live with bumping my head. I (and Shane!) have lots of time into this one, and with records back to roughly 20K miles and the past 2 owners, this is definitely a good one. Currently has about 103K miles, 6V92.

Tom, you are correct. Roy had a jake brake put on it plus the injectors upgraded. It pulls danged good for a 6 cylinder!

I have a Jake on my old bus. Thought the 6vs had those standard?

Don't know Ernie. Mine had the trans retarder that seems to be "stock", and the Jake was definitely done afterwards. I love using it, especially down hills. My son laughs at me when coming off the highway onto the ramps and it kicks in, he sees the smile across my face when the rumbling starts.

Sounds very reasonable. Happy with ours - has optional 8V92 - runs strong & burns fuel like no tomorrow.
