Default Airbag Issue 81FC

I just spent a day in Fort Stockton, Texas waiting to have an airbag replaced (Driver's side front -- rear bag in the pair). A couple years ago the same bag on the passenger side. I am noticing a similarity in the issue. The top of the bag sort of balloons up and around the metal plate and contacts the frame. Rubbing, actually. Eventually this wears thru the bag. Left side showed this clearly today and mechanic said front bag in the pair is showing wear signs from the frame as well.

The mechanic suggested having a metal disk fabricated to go between the metal top of the bag and the frame -- larger than the metal on the top of the bag and the rubber that extends over the metal.

My question is: has anyone else had issues with bags wearing in contact with the frame? Any thoughts on the disk Idea?

I am, BTW, having some other air issues -- the low pressure switch near the front pilot valves seems to be leaking. Or perhaps it is the pilot valve. I have a spare of that -- will try to get down there tomorrow and investigate. So far the compressor can overcome the leak, so I am hoping to make it somewhere where I can more easily get parts. Houston was already my next target to get windshield replaced -- I assume I can find parts and a good mechanic there.

I am going to say you need to increase the ride height.
i think (from how i understand this) that the bag needs more air so it stands up taller, reducing the diameter of the bag.
If you look at the specs for the bag,it will give you the inflated height, the ride height.
whats the bag number?

Default Ride Height and Bag Number

Here is the Bag Number: Goodyear FS2119 But that is not the actual installed...and now it is installed so I have to go find it on the invoice...

AS-2119 (A Firestone Airspring)

Interesting that the actual replacement "equivalent" looks very different. Starts out way taller and folds.... I wonder...

I can easily change the ride height in front, but I actually think it was already too high...will look tomorrow.

so does the bag rub when aired up?
or do you dump the air all the time, and maybe it rubs when deflated?

Default From that WOG thingie...

82 FC-33 uses W01 358 8992 on front. Ride height of...12.25"

I am guessing even though the bags "look" different, the studs fit and the ride height is per spec. I need to check to see if that is actually where they are set...

I am not clear where I got the FS2119/AS2119 info...I am too dumb to make this stuff up, tho, of that I am sure
