I need a front unit. It still works off the original 4 button dominic thermostat. the heat strip works the A/C isn't cooling very well. I'm searching but not finding that there are issues trying to use the original thermostat. Can I buy a non ducted with a new thermostat and use the extisting thermostat to unit wiring? Or use my 4 button thermostat with a new unit?

The Dometic thermostats may work with some of their brand ACs... though updates to the circuitry may have rendered that info obsolete. You'll need to get the ID numbers off the thermostat (I recall there are some numbers visible on the circuit board that identify it) and then ask Dometic if (whatever model you've found) will work with that thermostat.

The ducted/non-ducted actually depends on the "air box" on the bottom side of the AC unit. I was able to use "non ducted" replacement ACs that fit the existing air box... so the inside used the same OEM installation, and the AC just bolted to it. Again, there are "depends" involved in that installation, but it is more likely to work than the thermostat.
