I can rule out the turbo boost gauge. I don't have one.

So now I'm chasing down Woody's idea of a low oil pressure switch-sender.

What does it look like?
How big is it?
What kind of line feeds it?

After blindly poking around up in that rats nest (power off) did not find anything. I ran CAT for a while yesterday to air up and open slide to check genset and ran that too. Oil pressure on CAT normal and gen oil pressure reading around 30psi... no drip under dash.

I don't think this is a big deal but just one of this annoying things that I want to understand..

Thanks Woody,

I know that guy with the 83 for sale in CT. I will give him a call. The link to the oil pressure catalog was also helpful. Now at least I have a clue as to what I may be looking for.

What I don't understand, is why this thing would be located up high inside the dash?

Leaking tubing is what I was hoping to find when I opened both the upper and lower dash units. The oil pressure gauges for the CAT and the genny are wired... no tubes of the back of either. So that leads me to think the wires must lead to a junction between electrical and oil line somewhere in that rats nest. The only tubing I can see in there is plastic and it all appears to be associated with the air pressure gauges.

Things are so jammed in there I am reluctant to just go bulling around until I know exactly what I am looking for.

It not a big deal. just a little annoyance it can wait. I don't think I'm gonna make Maxton or RATs. Gotta bunch of stuff to do here before the frost sets in. But, I am planning to get out before the snow gets in.

John, As strange as these Birds are it would not surprise if a gauge were to leak Mustard.
