Something new, there is always something new, here's today's:
The Tace Inverster slips into error status when the house batteries go below 80% full and of course once in error status the Inverter shuts off. It works fine until 80 or 79 percent charged. It also slips into error if I turn the Inverter on and bring my Jacks up; I have to shut the Inverter then bring up my jacks to keep it from slipping into error and shut down. My house batteries should be in excellent condition as I never let them run below 75% and they are only 3 years old top of the line. Is there a setting on the Trace that I am missing? Or what could be the problem? Thanks |

I do not know what is going on but when I had a problem with my Trace a couple of years ago I called the factory in FL and they walked me through a couple of tests and finally had me ship the unit to them. They turned the unit around in a couple of days. They were very professional and did what they said they would and I have not had a problem since. I do not have the contact info with me at home but if you need it I can get it for you from my coach.

I know this can possibly happen if your terminals are dirty or not connected tight. Don't ask me how I know I don't have time to explain it.

Although I changed my inverter/charger over to a Magnum, it sounds like a bad/weak Battery or like Sandy said, dirty terminals. Can you read batt voltage when inverter error occurs? Jacks take allot of juice and can momentarily drag volts down quickly. If 12.6 is fully charged, 80% would be about 12.3-12.4. However a big draw (like jacks) could momentarily drag that well below 12.0 on less than capable batts. At that your LBCO would likely trip causing the error condition. As to the charger tripping at 80% of charge, again the suspect is a bad battery. A bad cell in one of them can draw everything the charger portion your Trace has to offer and then some on Bulk rate, causing the fault.
Fire up the geny or plug in for the jacks, especially if your batteries are weak. And get your batts load tested.
