Default Notice of future sale - 90WB Blue Thunder

We have been planning this for awhile and it appears to be the right time for us. Our plan is to sell Blue Thunder after a long fall trip, and then keep an eye out for an M380. Absolutely no desire to be in the two-bird club!

This final trip will be a loop of about 5600 miles as can be seen on the attached map. Departure date is planned to be August 20th, with return in November which is when the Bird will become available for a buyer. Randy will be brokering the sale, and we expect the price to be appropriate for the current market, but we are going to wait to set that price until Randy has a chance to look at the coach in person and give us whatever advice he can offer. We may see Randy in the first week of our trip, as we will be passing in opposite directions; otherwise we will see him in Santa Fe and Albuquerque at the beginning of October.

You can get a good feel for what Blue Thunder is like, as well as the various things we've done with her, at http://www.arcatapet.net/travel/wanderlodge.cfm and our travels are documented at http://www.arcatapet.net/travel (everything from January, 2007 and later were in Blue Thunder) If something is not shown in the pictures and you would like to see it, let me know.

I will add additional details in future posts

Contact Randy for anything related to purchase; You are welcome to post questions to me about the coach here, or e-mail me at donb@arcatapet.com or PM me with your phone number and I will give you a call.

Edited to add price: $46,000

Gee Don, will there be enough roof territory for all those antennas on an M380?

Good question, but I suspect that there could be more space on the M380, with only two air conditioners rather than three.

Having never been on top of a M380 I would not know. Perhaps someone could post an image and measurements of possible antenna areas.

Good luck with your trip and a comment. Whoever buys Blue thunder will get a nice and well maintained Bird.

You got me thinking about it, so I pulled this image from one of the video panoramas I did at Quartzsite this year. The near roof is Jim and Nancy's M380, with the "add-on" goat rails. It does appear that element spacing (antennas, skylight) impose some limitations, so I might have to get creative if I move all of the dishes to a new coach. I had to do some odd things when I had them on a 36-foot Safari in the past, so I'm sure I can work something out.

Here's the first of a few detail posts:

Odometer mileage at this writing (pre final trip) is 154569, probably a bit lower than reality. Engine hours are 3206 and generator hours are 2253.

Service records are available starting in 2001. Rich Ducci (G-man) was the owner prior to that, and I do not have his records. Some specific service items or things normally asked about:
Tires:
Steers are Michelin XZA-2 Energy 315/80R22.5, datecode 4008 (Mounted March, 2009)
Drivers are Michelin XZE* 12R22.5, datecode 1510 (Mounted May, 2010)
Tags are Michelin XZE* 12R22.5, datecode 1406 (Mounted February, 2007)
If I were keeping the coach I would expect to replace steers soon and move current steers to tag.
Batteries are 6-volt Lifeline AGM (approaching 6 years, probably need replacing in the next couple).
Transmission was converted to Transynd in 2004, and a complete change including internal and external filters was done in January, 2009 at mileage 130552.
Most recent service of engine/chassis was November, 2011 at mileage 151836. Differential oil was changed during this service.
Most recent generator service, including oil/fuel/air filters, was March 2012, at 2248 hours.
Chassis air conditioner blows cold. A complete recharge with R134A was done in May, 2008 after I accidentally broke a fitting on the compressor. Servicer said that the fitting type meant that it had previously been converted, although I don't have a record of that conversion. I think the compressor is different (larger) than stock, but not sure.
Coolant hoses to air compressor were changed (by Randy) in December, 2008.
Both alternators replaced in March, 2007.
Non-smoking coach, but always traveled with dog and cat.

In addition to all the above, this is a bus that is driven and used regularly. This is no hanger queen. It runs and it works. A recent testimony of it is your successful trip to Alaska.

I have no doubt of your ability to make an M380 work. You have shown your innovative ideas here for some time.
