Default No fast idle

Tried to activate my fast idle and no response. The fast idle switch has 2 red wires going into a cannon plug. Found Shane's write-up concerning this subject. The switch is working. What I want to know is where is the allenair cylinder?

On the 8V...Standing behind the coach and looking into the engine room, it's slightly forward of the coolant crossover pipe.

Curt,

Isn't what you're discribing the 'fasr idle' cylinder? I'm ooking for the solenoid that is controlled by the 'fast idle' switch.

Yes, but see post #1. No mention of solenoid. I'll see what I can find.

You could pull your air line off the cylinder and see if air comes out when the switch is on, would rule out if its the solonoid valve or a stuck cylinder. Havent owned mine long enough to locate that valve.

Would the solenoid be one of two on the Bendix Cruise Control module located in the engine compartment? See photos. 1st photo is the BCC. Note the split loom on the left. 2nd photo is the end of the split loom, a braided air line. At the cylinder is a braided air line, same size. They both disappear. HTH

Art- didn't you install a Jake Brake? If so, the high idle will no longer work unless you had them put the "special" module on.

That's right Shane. That came to me 2 days ago. I thought the buffer switch went somewhere else on the governer. Curt, I didn't think of those cylinders.. It's all academic now though, my fast idle is working. I have selected the 'throttle mode' option so the cruise control can now do the fast idle.
