Default Need new alternator fast!

Ok guys I have been loaned a good friends 92 sp for a trip to South Dakota. I have done all the required maintenance on the coach in preparation for the trip but when tightening the belts on the alternator the bearings locked up. So I backed the tension down to where it would not bind and its not producing any current. So I have less than a week till we leave and I need a new alternator. It is a delco remy 19010126 160A. I have read these are not the best for this coach and many have upgraded. What do you guys suggest that will fit the 3208T cat. Thanks

Eddie

Leece-neville 110-555JHO works fine for me.

You need to extend the adjustment arm and use washer spacers on the mount. Way cheaper than the old unit, and easy to find. Check at local Freightliner place.

Check this thread for arm modification

The factory unit on my 91SP was a Delco 22SI rated at 150 amps. I chose to go with a new Bosch AL9960LH rated 180 amps. It bolted right in without any modifications. It has worked really well so far.

I just checked my records on the alternator. I got it on ebay from a company named Crank-N-Charge located in Macon, Ga. Their item number is 230711421016 and sells for $150.95. Still shows being in stock. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replys one of the local diesel shops has one he thinks will work so I'm taking the old one over there to check. If not I will go the eBay or online shop route. I would like to have a Bosch just not sure I could get it here in time. We have been to rally several years but it's a bit much as we are getting older. The wife's parents live in rapid city and we try to take the kids every summer. It's soo pretty up there and the people are amazing.
