Default 1978 FC For Sale in Texas

I found out about a 1978 35 FC SB that is for sale in Odessa, TX I went over to see it here is a short report. New Steer tires drive are ok, paint is faded and the woodgrain stripe is worn. The inside has blue shag carpet and is not well taken care of. It has a full bed in the back, it was running when I got there the owner says the dash air works. He wants 12,500 for it If anyone want any other info feel free to call me or send me a note.

I am always suspicious when it is either running or warmed up on my arrival.

X2 on that.

I sell quite a few cars, and I always try to start them cold in the buyer's presence, so he can feel good about what he's getting.

What would be possible reasons for a seller to warm up engine prior to buyer arriving? In the process of buying 78 fc

3208's usually kick right away. They do, however, smoke a bit when cold (both white fuel vapor depending on the temperature, and blue oil smoke)
So if it is warmed up you will not see as much smoke.

Batteries? Starting system? Hard starting due to engine wear? Smoke on start up? Air system slow to build? There could be a lot of reasons or he may have had it running so it would be ready for you to test drive.

Went to test drive 78 fc on saturday and he had warmed it up prior to me getting there. I could tell when I was standing in front of the bird, could feel warmth from the engine. It cranked right up when we did get ready to drive it. He had been charging the batteries also and said the batteries are old and would not hold a charge. Going back this saturday to either buy or run like ****. I'll make sure we cold start it. Any other concerns I should have worry about.

I was told the batteries were just run down on my first coach. Seller forgot to mention the alternator wasn't charging either. No plates on it, so I had a minimal test drive around his property. Not a good way to buy a Bird, although I got lucky and she was basically sound.
