If someone were to put this in an FC will it fit behind the stock grill or do you have to push it out? I'm thinking of doing a 5.9 or 8.3 in the next year or two and I dont want to push out the grill I dont care for the look of that.

you may have to make the dog house longer, but you can fit it in by moving the engine back,no big deal.

That is what Dale did to install a 6V92 in his FC.

Roger

Here are a couple of pictures of Dale Blemel's engine conversion;

A 6V92 DETROIT ENGINE NOW RESTS WHERE THE ORIGINAL GAS V-8 WAS BEFORE, BACKED UP BY AN ALLISON 5 SPEED TRANNY

THE DOG HOUSE WAS MODIFIED TO ACCEPT THE DETROIT, THE STEERING IS MOVED TO THE LEFT AND WOOD FLOORING COVERS THE AREA

To see the whole series of Dale and Carol's FC upgrade photos go to http://www.pbase.com/iamflagman/image/70920892 then click on NEXT at the right of each photo to see the next one.

Would one of these front extensions from a Blue Bird school bus work, in my opinion it has a more sleek design and doesn't look as boxy as some that I have seen.

John has hit on your solution. Find yourself a FC Schoolie. You will have a dog house, air to air and the required extension.

Ok!

I know this might be crazy sounding but if you are going to cut off the front of the bus anyway... and its going to add so much weight to the front it might overload the existing axle.... perhaps you could cut the donor bus just in back of the steering wheels/tranny thereby extending the bus by 10 feet and adding another set of steering wheels complete with engine/tranny link the four steering wheels and viola no tag axle 40+ foot bus!
conversation starter...
An extra entry/exit
half the steer front tire wear
twice the storage
Twice the hp
A front blow out would not ever be dangerious!
No engine/tranny swap Use steering engine tranny off donor bus
Drive shaft would need extending

Front end alignments might break you tho!

he he just joking
