Default Is this a sediment filter?

Hello everybody, we are 1 1/2 months away from getting in the bird and flying south for the winter, I have a bazillion questions, of course we'll have to do them one at a time. This part in the fresh water system leaks. It is directly connected to the fresh water tank. It appears to work in both directions? Can I open it up and clean or reseal it? Is it still available, what is a suitable replacement? It seems very small for the job at hand. I was looking to add a whole house filter and relocate the city water connection, would this part still be needed? I can see where I might still want protection for the pump and valves from debris that might make its way out of the fresh water tank?

I agree that it is tiny. I replaced it with a whole house filter mounted under the sink. Remember to drain it in the winter or you will buy two like me.

Yes it is a screen to protect the pump. Just for filtering larger particles. Top should screw off to get the round cylinder screen out for clean up. I've had mine apart and back together with no issues. Has an o-ring gasket between the two case halves.

I took a different approach. I took a whole house filter and I have it sitting at my tires. I filter the water outside of the coach (regardless if I am filling the tank or on city water). Quick connects makes it a 30 second hookup to cleaner water in the coach.
