Mine is also holding after I Plastic welded it. Oh yea, getting that plastic welding done right is a challenge. Mine looks like heck, but worked.

For my next trick I will try to repair my Thule carrier that has several long cracks and over stressed mounting areas. It is PVC so I ordered suitable welding rods. Wish me luck

I bought mine thru this guy on e-bay. the tank I bought was brand new and was never drilled for any fittings. It was around $300.00 including shipping. He has a lot of tanks of all sizes. send him an e-mail with you size. The one bought was very close in dimensions as the original. Removing the tank is not to bad to do. I wouldn't buy anything from somebody that stores their plastic tanks outside. The UV rays will destroy most plastics in short order. I have yet to see anything that was plastic that lasted outside for very long. I can only imagine what condition these things are in after sitting outside for who knows how long. Not in my coach!

Removed my fresh water tank. Its a PITA, Mark's instructions are spot on. Does anyone have material/polyethylene from a old fresh water tank that can be used for welding? Thank You

I bought a cheap plastic welding kid from HF. It came with several different rods and instructions on how to recognize different plastics. Good luck.

Looks like it except mine came with six or eight different plastic rods to use in the shoe heater. Not quite that inexpensive, though.

a good test for the type of rod is to heat and stick to the tank let it cool. then try to pull it apart if it does not stay its not the rite stuff . I believe it was medium density poly, I was lucky we have a plastic fab guy close buy welded mine and performed an air test
his comment on the tank was it was well built and was better quality than a replacment

Homey-Lowes type stores may have polyethylene tubing in the plumbing dept. Small diameter like for an ice maker. That's what I used.
