Default Atlanta GA

I was wandering if the fire on the bridge in Atlanta will have any effect on I-75 north through Atlanta? It looks like it is farther north of on I-85 than I will be on I-75. I will be going through on Sun. morning. Thanks Don

You can get through on seventy five but the traffic is likely to be horrendous. Sorry but my numbers button isn't working

I-75 will not be closed so it is not impacted in that way. However, one end of the I-85 closure is where I-75 and I-85 merge/split in downtown Atlanta. All I-85 traffic will be pushed to I-75. That is likely to mean I-75 will be very busy and likely slow. If you can avoid Atlanta, its probably prudent to do so right now. If you do come in on I-75 from south of Atlanta, I very very strongly recommend you take I-285 west on the south side of Atlanta around the city and rejoin I-75 on the northern end. Even that may be dicey.

To be honest, you are probably better off just avoiding Atlanta right now unless you are coming through in the dark of night. I suspect we won't really know much about traffic patterns for a few days.

Virtually anything causes a ripple effect on traffic in Atlanta, even though you will not be close to the I-85 bridge in question. Coming through on Sunday morning you can stay on I-75 and go through town or take I-285 around and pick up I-75 on the other side. Under "normal" weekend conditions, barring wrecks and construction zones, you'll be fine. But, do not be surprised if you wind up in one of the worlds largest parking lots either. By the way, the Atlanta interstate system is a perpetual construction zone somewhere.......

And Atlanta wants thru traffic trucks to use the I-285 bypass. It is almost always the best plan.

I guess I,ll take a chance on I-285 to the west my other choice would be I-95 which I don't like to use because it would make me using the PA turnpike which I don't like use. Leaving New Port Ritchey in the morning Don

Don, Have you considered using Map Quest? It shows a route that will not take you near Atlanta or any travel on the Pa Pike.

My problem in the past if I go though at a good time it is not bad. Coming down we hit it at a bad time in the evening & it was slow to say the least but when I get through it is good all the home. No long hills like Fancy Gap at about 7 miles long. You guys have more horses pushing you .
