Any fulltime WOG members out there who use military bases for the majority of the time?

I use them a few times a year, but I'm nowhere near full time.
It seems that many bases have gotten rid of their Mobile Home (not RV) parks which has caused the RV parks to be filled with long term contractors/service members. There are some parks that are really nice, but as Woody said there are quite a few rules. Sometimes you end up having to cut the grass, sweep down your pad as part of a weekly routine. I don't mind stuff like that, but some may.

Being a veteran and a retired government employee, the only one I really wanted access to was Key West.

If your looking to use them during your trips, there not bad. I'm Planning on a long trip next year out to Beale AFB to see my kids. Plan to use some FAM camps on the way.

If you don't have the Rv FAM camp book I would get it if you can. They have quite making it. got lucky and our MWR at NAS Pensacola still had some. The book has all the FAM camps in the U.S. best $22 i have spent. Hope this Helps.

NAS Jacksonville has a bus lift in their auto-craft center which is really amazing. Each base is different and you have to check out the MWR to see what is available.

We have stayed at a number of military base Famcamps and many are great. We use JB Charleston regularly since we have grandkids there. However, I travel with a couple of little “friends” that can present a challenge. Air Force and Army bases allow 72hrs to declare your friend but when trying to enter a Navy nuclear sub base the authorities insist that you immediately check them into the armory which is a pain. Lots of full timers using and camphosting at famcamps.

Also not even close to FT - we like Fam Camps but costs have risen allot the past 5-10 years. Have found that one or two nights isn’t usually a problem. But for longer stays you need to plan way ahead. Plus, getting reservations for a longer term space at primo locations can be nearly impossible. This is because Active Duty rightfully get first dibs with their 12 month reservation windows, while Retired res windows are much shorter and fill up fast.

My go-to on the road is the AllStays App. Camp & RV version for $10 is best $$ I’ve spent. One of its filters is Military or you can get the FREE Military version with Fam Camps - https://www.allstays.com/

Note to my previous post.. Apparently the bus lift only has a 30K weight capacity.. So... Yeah... New fiberglass brand coaches could probably use it, but not our fat bottom coaches..
