And if you can't get that far north you can come here,Bainbridge Ga.
But you better hurry, the weather is going bad fast.
Heavy rain here now, rain started at 5am.
Outside is hot and humid.
WE have the shutters closed and locked, the bus barn is all closed up tight.
Mark B and Rick S are parked in the back yard, away from the trees.
Hunkered down and ready.

Still in Lynn Haven (5 miles north of Panama City, 1.5 blocks from the bay). The shelter in place announcement has gone out, we're in for the duration.

Slab is listed on the survey as 13'6" above high tide. Storm surge is up to 9 feet predicted; high tide is not until about 10:30 PM today. The bay configuration is such that the wind out of the southeast/east/northeast will push water away from my location.

I'm on a local high spot; we didn't have any flooding trouble a couple years ago with 17" of rain in 36 hours; this storm is predicted for about 8" or so.

I had most of the big trees by the house removed a year or so ago and my power and cable feeds are underground (but the service lines are overhead).

The bus is here, fully fueled, and I just filled the propane tank a couple weeks ago.
New start batteries, fairly new house batteries, and it's been plugged (and still is..) into a 50 amp service. I just went out and configured it for standalone (disconnected chassis/coach batteries) and left the inverters set to come on with power loss. Slides are in, shades down, awnings retracted, and leveling jacks down.

The last couple hurricanes we had extensive flooding in Lynn Haven but it didn't get close to where I am. This house was built on some of the higher ground (yea, high ground is 13 feet above sea level...) and has never flooded.

Had I known 36 hours ago that it would be a cat 4 storm hitting right here I'd be somewhere else but I'm in for the duration. So far so good; very light wind and light rain. Looks like about 3-4 hours until all the excitement.

More after the storm passes and I get comms back. We're almost certainly going to lose power and it's uncertain when it will come back on.

We've got food, water, lights and are pretty well set. I've even got a new chain for the saw ready to go. We even have a guest dog.
