Default Golf Cart recommendations

I'm thinking about buying a golf cart for rallies just like we attended at Pine Mountain. We didn't use our car once and the little electric scooters would hardly get me from my motorhome to the building.

I like the look of John Finn's 3 wheeler and have found a decent one near me for $900. It probably needs a few things, but he says it's ready to roll. I want to ask a few questions:

Do I really need a 48Volt cart to ride around a rally? I don't see myself riding this on a round of golf (36V) and I like the retro look. Besides, its BLUE.

I already know the 3 wheeler is not as stable, blah, blah, blah, but I'm not exactly a hot-rodder. If it's good enough for Finn, I guess it should be good enough for me.

Really, that's the only question I have. Any opinions?

Believe it or not, the three wheeler's are still in limited production because they turn tighter and are desirable for inside factories. Voltage? 36VDC works well. The biggest concern for me is two fold: What condition are the batteries? and, is the steel chassis rusted/rotted out. Club Car carts are aluminum framed FWIW John's cart had all brand new batteries installed when he got it, Bud demanded them or the deal was off! Oh, and the older carts like John's don't have those very expensive, sophisticated electronic speed controls. Easy to fix and maintain!!

Down here Craig's List is full of used carts...

I believe that is a newer year model than mine with the rounded rear of the body, it is nice looking, mine is also a 36 volt, be sure to get the battery charger for it, I just plugged mine in every night at Pine mountain.

Default golf cart

I have been a dealer for used golf carts for 8yrs. The 36 volt carts run about 800 lbs the 48 volts are about an other 100 lbs. The newer cart the faster they are. No doubt carts are fun at big rallys.

I like the 36VDC better, 6 6v batteries just like the bus! No new learning curve and a spare set of batteries. A canopy is nice for inclement weather but may not be as easy to tow on a open trailer behind the bus. Club car, as mentioned, is aluminum chasis and grounds must go back to the neg battery terminal. Good used tires are easily had for $20/piece (unlike the bus) from outfits that upgrade golf carts with a lift and bigger tires. Would be nice if you had a bay that you could fit the charger in and that had 110v outlet. That way the charger is ready anytime you are hooked up to shore power. Certainly an option instead of a car or will you tow both?

I really didn't use the car at WOG. I have a 36 v scooter that barely gets me one loop around the park. I'd pull to certain rallies. Not so much to Casper...I might need my car!

Here's a quote from the ad. Might have answered my own question.

"The rear frame and body of this cart have been altered to accommodate a later style body. The frame had some rust, but has been treated and painted. Lots of new parts including brakes, brake cables, speed board, solenoid, ignition switch, resistors, forward and reverse switch unit, front bearings and seals, lights, 2 tires, factory seat covers, foam, and wood.

Runs and drives good. A little bumpy on smooth payment. Could be just a tire or rim, or maybe a slightly bent axle, not really sure."

Carts can be cheap, just as buses. How old are the batteries? You can quickly add another $500 to the cost.
