Push buttons will not make ZF downshift. You must slow down until it downshifts and then the buttons will hold the gear. At least that is the way my SP worked. Cursed it for 10 years.

ZF won't downshift until you get under 1800 rpm, then hit the kick down switch under the throttle pedal. Lock out higher gears to prevent upshifts and to keep it within the magical 2200-2400 rpm range.

I think your tachometer is off, unless you have a different rear end ratio. I was talking to another 88fc35 owner and he was getting the same low rpms at speed as you are and he spoke to a few other owners who are at 2300rpm at 65mph. Maybe others can chime in ?

The ZF locks in 1st when in 1/ 1st,2nd,3rd when in 2/ 1st,2nd,3rd,4th in 3/ and 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th in D. Shawn used to say put in the number that is one gear lower than you want it to be in, which is a good way to remember it.
You have to floor it to activate the downshift below 2000rpm which was already mentioned. You probably already figured out the economy/power switch.

Stopped first night @ Dove Valley Winery in Rising Sun Md. If that stop was any indication of the Harvest Host program I would Highly recommend it. The hosts were awesome and we had a great time at their wine and cheese pairing. Bought some wine and cheese and had a quiet night of rest at their location. Second night @ Pedros, South of The Border. Good overnight stop but wouldn't think of it for extended stay. Level pads, full hookup with 50 amps. Seven Oaks, nice campground, friendly folks and quiet. would recommend it. Next stop Jacksonville, then Kissimmee , Disney, another campground in Kissimmee and the off to Clearwater for the rally.
EXCITED !!
I didn’t know Pedro’s had a park, that place is sketchy, I don’t know how they pay to keep all those lights on.

2300 rpm 65 mph. 2250 seems to be my happy spot. But my tach jumps a bit, too.

Paul , You would be surprised . Pedros is a good spot to camp , and they even added some new spots . The draw I think is the dirt bike track . You will see many guys with there young kids and even some pro s there .

Critt,
Oh ya, we found that hill in R I on rte 95. Didn't get down to 1100 but close. Never got the ZF to downshift. Tried pedal to the floor at less than 2000 rpm and no results. Tach seems to be rock steady and speedo is within a couple mph of GPS. Seems to run 2250 to 2300 @ 63 to 65 mph according to GPS so I think it is pretty accurate. That seems to be my sweet spot, bus handles well and engine sounds good. I do know that the throttle cable has been replaced. Haven't looked into that for WOT at all yet.
On another note I-4 coming out of Orlando is under const. and is terrible. There is a Cracker Barrel in Mount Holly NJ that is right off 95, well lit separate parking lot for RV's. Good place to stop for the night. real easy in and out.

1100 degrees on the pyrometer. Full throttle with the governor calling for full fuel should result in a pyro temp over 1000 degrees anyway

I-4 was definitely the worst section of road we saw on the entire East Coast.
