Caterpillar 3208 Solutions This sub-forum is hosted by Mike Hohnstein who has been at this kind of thing for 50+ years now, guess I'm addicted. The saga has been all about progressively larger shop space since then. Honestly, never wanted to get into the CAT 3208's that were originally considered to be a throwaway engine but that's all that works in a FC in my world. Same thing with my Ford toter, that came with a NA, too much effort to hang in a 6, so been at it with the CAT V-8 for 20 years now. In reality you can get excellent life out of a CAT 3208 if it's built correctly. Post your questions about the CAT 3208 engines here and Mike will try to help you out.

Congrats! Getting a brand new 3208t installed by a professional is an awesome deal! What's this about an exhaust brake? Is that part of the planned upgrade also?

I know you will enjoy this upgrade. Guess you better start putting extra money in the rear tire fund. All that burning rubber will catch up with you.

I have been running a Pac Brake exhaust brake that is made for a Cummins for years, while it isn't as effective on the Cat due to less back pressure, it along with the Horton fan override used together is better than just service brakes.

I did find a 6" chrome tip that would have to be cut and welded on the tailpipe end, or used as a tip on a 5" http://www.ebay.com/itm/170971721377...84.m1438.l2649

You can build your own motor mount using urethane in a tube. Its a pretty common repair for cars at least. Had 200000 kms on our homemade Volvo motor mount and it was far more durable than the stock one.
