Yes, that was what woke me up so I came out and took the pictures, but I'm a little disappointed in the results of the depth of the new compartment.

Ryan lead me to believe that the compartment would be deeper than what it turned out to be above.

John,
It's just the right size for a cupcake tray to make Red Velvet Cupcakes.

I was just thinking that same thing! Perfect space for a baker's rack!

Shown here is the trial fit of the new compartment after the minor trimming was done, it revealed the new storage area that I will have after everything is completely mounted.

Boy Ryan, What are you feeding Grant?! The last time I saw him he was half that size!. I guess there will be some advantage to him growing, you won't have to buy too many clothes. He can always wear dad's clothes

Jim,

Grant is growing up too fast. He will be driving the Bird pretty soon if I am not careful

He and John Finn have really hit it off especially if you know how shy Grant is He'll be a moderator before you know it!

BTW, we finally got the box fitted and it is ready to be riveted into place (we broke for lunch)

Hey Ryan,
Great job on this project!!! I'm surprised the box is riveted in rather than welded? Will you re-affix the rub rails?

Doug

Doug,

The boxes are factory riveted from the front around 3 sides and also screwed into the steel box tube floor joist above.
The rub rail will be reworked and re-afixed to match the other side.

Too dang hot down here already... 84 degrees and humid!

Wow. Adding that extra storage bay sure will make a difference. I wonder why BB didn't include an extra bay originally? If the space was always there behind the skin of the coach, why not take advantage of it?

After listening to me plead and grovel, as he drug me around while I was hanging onto his leg saying Please Mr. Saari.....Please......Please.....Please give me a bigger compartment, Ryan finally gave in and did some more trimming, measuring, trimming again and then he made the final fit of the deeper compartment.

I'm finding out with Ryan that you have to be very specific explaining what you want , after he installed the bigger and deeper compartment, I asked him why it wasn't enclosed in the back, he said I didn't say anything about enclosing the back side and that this way I could insert long items through the back behind the fuel tank, sort of like the FC version of a wide open bay, just like on the BIG busses. It looks like there will be a repeat of the groveling and pleading again tomorrow

The cover now fits nicely, at least now my stuff won't fall out of the outside and I kind of like the patriotic red-white-blue color scheme

Looking good John. Should be able to get about 10 or so gallons of coolant in that box.
