Adrian , This is what I use . It is a low tech easy to use tool that I find perfect for me . It is not the only way to go and you may wish something a bit more flashy , but I like plug n play ![]()

Andy , I must be honest I do not like tech stuff , but for me this gauge helps me sleep better at night . My LXI oil temp , water temp, and trans temp gauges are not accurate and this little easy to install devise is spot on . I guess I could just replace the gauges with newer ones but this is digital and in my face . No fancy sillverleaf for me , lol

Thanks Al for the scanguage info - I will look into it before we move the coach again (now I'm paranoid)...
Randy is correct that 'ELL' fitting is indeed brass and was broken after the door arm hit it. Sorry the pictures came out sideways (again)... I need a new phone I guess... My ODB (or whateveryoucallit) port is a rectangular one under the dash - it has 12 'pin holes' but only 4 of them look like they are used. Any idea if I can buy this adapter/cable?

If you get a scangauge send them that photo, the'll send you the right cable...
Do you have 2 of those sockets? There may be one for the trans and one for the engine. HTH, Joe

12-pin plugs with 4 wires are probably transmission (and won't work with VMSpc or probably others). The engine 12-pin should have 7 wires.

Adrian, I can only imagine the pain you went through!! It is one story for the records.... You handled it like a gentleman and didn't loose your cool. Hopefully your story will prevent someone else from going through this sort of thing. I never have had a tow in all my Bird years but that isn't to say I might one day.
Here is a FC on a Landoll. It isn't mine but looks like another 87. http://timstowingservicestx.com

I have only one question. The pic with the broken fitting leaking coolant shows the coolant as green. I thought Detroits are supposed to be using dex-cool exended life ( which is orange in color ) to prevent silicate dropout and corrosion causing bubbles in the cooling system. Am I wrong here ?

Detroits are supposed to use a dedicated heavy Diesel coolant such as Final Charge. Automotive coolant types are not suitable.
The cylinder liners vibrate during operation and are subject to the coolant boiling next to the liner during a part of the vibration cycle (cavitation). When the bubbles collapse the momentary overpressure erodes the metal of the liner. Eventually this process will eat a hole in the liner, requiring that the liners be replaced (in-frame rebuild). It happens that Final Charge is orange, similar in color to Dex-Cool, but other suitable types have different colors.
